My Phone Number Is Coming Up As SPAM
Sometimes, your VentureTel outbound calls might be incorrectly flagged as "spam" or "potential spam" by the recipient's phone service provider. This can happen for several reasons, but here's what you can do to minimize the chances of this happening and what to do if it does occur.
Why Calls Get Flagged as Spam
- New Numbers: Newly activated phone numbers may initially lack a call history, causing some providers to flag them until a legitimate calling pattern is established.
- Incomplete Caller ID Information: Ensure your outbound caller ID is set to a single, valid number and that your CNAM (Caller ID Name) is up to date. Contact VentureTel support to verify this information.
- Excessive Calling: Using auto-dialers to make a high volume of calls, especially to disconnected numbers or for very short durations, can trigger spam filters. This is also prohibited on VentureTel's platform.
- Previous Number History: It's possible that a number you received was previously used for spam or marketing, and is still on spam databases.
- STIR/SHAKEN: VentureTel utilizes the STIR/SHAKEN framework to authenticate outbound calls. This helps ensure that your calls are properly identified and reduces the likelihood of being flagged as spam.
Steps to Take If Your Calls Are Being Flagged
- Verify Your Caller ID: Make sure your outbound caller ID is set to a valid number and that your CNAM is correct. Contact VentureTel support to confirm.
- Establish a Calling Pattern: If you have a new number, make a variety of calls to different numbers and ensure they are of reasonable length to build a positive call history.
- Contact VentureTel Support: If the issue persists, contact VentureTel support. We can investigate further and provide guidance.
- Register with Free Caller Registries: Consider registering your number with free caller registries. These services help carriers identify legitimate businesses. Some options include:
- Free Caller Registry (First Orion, Hiya, TNS): https://freecallerregistry.com/fcr/
- Registered Caller (for a fee): https://www.registeredcaller.com/
- Report to Carriers: If your calls are being blocked or mislabeled by specific (known) Voice service providers, you may wish to reach out to them directly to pursue resolution. Here are some links for major carriers:

VentureTel and STIR/SHAKEN
VentureTel is committed to combating caller ID spoofing and ensuring the integrity of your outbound calls. We have implemented the STIR/SHAKEN framework, which digitally validates the origin of calls. This helps receiving carriers verify that your calls are legitimate.
By following these steps, you can minimize the chances of your VentureTel outbound calls being incorrectly flagged as spam and ensure your communications reach their intended recipients.
